I can confirm that the next game did, in fact, treat me better. First off, the platforming is well-designed and great for speedrunning. To be honest, it's one of the only games I've tried to speedrun, along with Mario Scratch 4. Most of the deaths in the game felt like they were my fault rather than the game messing up. The UI and environments in this game are also a step up compared to the ones in the second game. Also, on the second game, this game was actually enjoyable compared to the mess that was Island Hopper. Polly plays very fast and has a double jump, which is great for correcting jumps and speedrunning. Not to mention, the new Glider and whatever the can is called adds variety and spices up the level design, making it actually fun to play instead of boring and annoying like the other games. The camera isn't bullshit like the other games too, and the drop shadow, though a bit small, is still great at the very least. I'm glad that most of the flaws from the second game were fixed and improved on, and they definitely paid off. It takes a real one to not only take feedback but also improve upon and make the game better. Good job.
But there are still some glaring flaws, like the difficulty on the last level being more bullshit than actually fair. Some parts are just cheap, like the one-level platforming at the beginning, and after you complete that, you have a long way till the next checkpoint. So if you die, well, too bad. I can see what you're going for, but you might want to examine it a little bit. There is this saying that if it's just the right difficulty for you, then it's probably too hard for the player. But one thing that is just no excuse for is definitely the Billy Bicther boss fight. That fight is pure ass. All the fight is, is just running around in circles and hopefully landing a shot which, most of the time, either goes backward because you have to turn around a second time for it to actually face Billy. Not to mention, most of the shots feel like they don't make a hit because there is no health bar or physical damage on Billy Bullfrog, which especially sucks because on his second phase, there is no difference in appearance between phases, so it feels pointless. And at least add two heart containers or whatever they're called at the second phase, which is just a harder repeat of the first. But even after beating the boss, it feels a little bit anticlimactic since it just kind of ended, especially since Polly's "beloved fiancé" Lurn didn't speak any line of dialogue during the ending or the entire game, for that matter. I don't know how Lurn even got Polly, for that matter. Maybe Lurn has unlimited Rizz or something. idk I'm not playing the second game to find out. But either way, Polly the Frog 3 is an amazing game and way better than any Polly the Frog game and most of the games you made. I can really tell that the game has effort and passion baked into it, and I'm glad you took all the time you needed to make the game. You're a real one, Brad.
Thanks for your constructive criticism! I can't argue with anything you've said here, I'll definitely try to improve upon and fix this kind of stuff in my next game. Lurn definitely has unlimited rizz, though. 😳
That's weird. I had a few playtesters test the game on Windows 11 and they had no issues. What is happening when you download it and try to run the exe?
I think the game is truly brilliant, I love all of the games in series! Especially the first one, as it was easier ;) Personally I think the boss is almost impossible. He must have 10 hp, then second phase (if there is such thing), and 10 more. Checkpoint between the two.
Oh, and also, I think the third game must be more of exploration game. I want to see open-world with polly the frog :)
For this one you have to press foward all the time, in order to not fall off, then jump going left/right-foward and finally perform a doble jump to reach the new invisible platform. Make sure you'reabove the water pump.
EDIT: Max height i managed to reach by the way i also found an easier way to do it, that doesnt require the leaf:
when you are on the invisible platform, make a jump going a little backward then continue with going foward and a double jump to reach the next platform.
Very nice game! I always like it when scratch developers go to a bigger engine and make something as big as this! The only issues I noticed is that when i got the bubble pop, i can break walls with it but when i press shift 5 times it asks me to turn sticky keys on. Maybe in the next game make it a different button or make the bind changeable. The second issue I noticed is that the final boss seems to be way too long and drawn out. I died at the second phase and excepted to get a checkpoint their but I didn't. If there's gonna be a 4th game, maybe fix these. But overall, great and enjoyable game!
Thank you! You can actually disable the sticky keys pop-up in Windows settings. Very annoying prompt. :P Alternatively, you can use a controller to avoid getting the prompt.
Wow - I've been following your games ever since your SMFS games, and this is no doubt the best one yet! You definitely could get a good career in the gaming industry if you wanted
Poly The Frog: Sucks, terrible mobile port with frustrating levels.
Poly The Frog 2: Island Hopper: Improves almost everything from the first. Fixed controls (except jumping) and a fun setting and level design.
Poly The Frog 3: Billy Bullfrog's Decree: The currently ULTIMATE Polly experience. Settings, saves, checkpoints, powerups, bosses, even more variety in level themes, worlds, and more!
Interested to see what improvements will be made in the next installment or in your next game! :)
Thanks! :) The first 2 games were definitely rough around the edges, especially the first one. I was still learning the Unity game engine back then but I've gotten a lot better with it since then, and I like to think this game reflects that well. :P
Polly is if you combined: Crash Bandicoot in most levels, Paper Mario in aesthetic, Mario 64 in openness for some levels, and a fever dream for some elements. Somehow, that works. I hope you take a break after this MASSIVE project lol.
Hmm... Part of the challenge is maintaining your speed. Maybe I'll make a sprint indicator in the corner in an update (kind of like Super Merio Bros. 3)
Honestly, one of the best games I've ever played. However, I found this glitch to get out of bounds in 4-3...I walked around for a bit and found that you could fall off the edge and endlessly fall and that you could also see some of the underground areas of the level beneath. Also, you can walk around into furniture (such as the TV), but since they have no collision you can just walk into them and see the inside of them.
Other than this, absolutely great game and I can't wait to see the next Polly the Frog game (if it releases).
Hi! I'm a scratch user and that's how I found out about this, and I love it! I hope I'm as good at making games as you are someday! :D from: -Pixel_Programmer- I hope to see more games soon!
Thank you! :) If you keep making games in Scratch you'll eventually get a really good understanding of game logic and it'll be pretty easy to move to more professional game engines like Unity or Unreal. Scratch in itself is pretty good for 2D games if you use TurboWarp and Scratch Addons.
This game is phenomenal! There is a bug I found. When I entered some watering can or something, I was trapped in it. When I got out, I went into the background.
Great game, but, in the browser version at least, after you tap one of the buttons on mobile, it will think you tapped it again after you tap elsewhere, which leads to headaches when you're going through teleportation mounds.
Also lurn moment.
Also why is the windows version over twice the file size of the others?
Thanks! WebGL (with Unity at least) has some issues with touch-input. The Android version doesn't have this issue. As for why the Windows version is twice the size of the others, I actually don't know. My guess is just that Unity compiles the Windows version in a way that makes the file larger.
Just a heads up, a bug was just discovered. If you select the instructions screen from the title screen the browser version of the game will crash. Working on fixing it right now!

Can you make a new Paper Brad RPG for Unity next?
Great game, however, the download for Windows is broken on Windows 11. And yes, I followed all of the instructions.
That's weird. I had a few playtesters test the game on Windows 11 and they had no issues. What is happening when you download it and try to run the exe?
The zipped file keeps returning this error when the download progress reaches 95-99%.
I think this because the exe file has the ":" character.
Ah I see. You can just press the skip button and it'll still work. :P I'll remove the : character in the next update.

While I was playing, I fell in the water and then I kinda fell in limbo or the overworld! All I could see is the blue background and polly.
So cool
On my way finding new glitches.

I dont think this was the legit way lol. Just jump in the corner and go foward.
Uh oh, I better add that to the list of bugs to fix with the next update 😬 Good find :P
keep it ;-;
😭
it can be a pretty cool shortcut for speedrunning
and also a way to avoid those spidersVery nice game! I always like it when scratch developers go to a bigger engine and make something as big as this! Oh ok!
I have played the game! It was awesome, but I still can't beat the secret level... =:P
My favourite part was when I accidentally clicked on the light switch in the kitchen level and it turned dark! I'd give it a 11/10.
For people that can't find the acorn in 3-3, you must first get on top of that out of place breakable brick, then you'll see it.
Also, lurn moment!
Thank you! :) Yes that final level took me a few tries my first time too. It's supposed to be very difficult. :P

xD Yes, I do plan to take a bit of a break. I'll probably make some smaller projects/games in between my next big project, but we'll see.
Honestly, the first game is better than the second one.
This is honestly a great game and has a but-load of personality sprinkled in . I’m gonna make a YouTube video of this : @James_inabox
Thank you so much!!
Honestly I'm having a lot of trouble with the acorn in 3-3, my jumps can't get to it
You need to be sprinting. :P
maybe add a sprint button
Hmm... Part of the challenge is maintaining your speed. Maybe I'll make a sprint indicator in the corner in an update (kind of like Super Merio Bros. 3)

You know where the acorn is in 4-2
Thank you so much! :) I'm planning on fixing a lot of these bugs and other issues in the 1.1 update, which will hopefully be out in a month or so.
Anyone know where to find the acorn in 4-2?
Let's just say you may need to open some new doors to find it.
After a bit i had to look up a guide. But thanks for the hint either way. And do you plan on making games on steam
I LOVED
Brilliant game !
Thanks! :)

Thanks! :D Ah, that must be a collision bug. I'm going to make a few patches over the next few days to address these issues.
That happened to me too lol.
Ah, you're a Brad-Games fan too?
